Excitement Grows Over River Street Lofts

Troy, NY – May 22, 2014:  The resurgence of Troy has been an inspiring phenomenon to witness.  An influx of artists and young entrepreneurs to the area has created a funky, modern atmosphere that has attracted an intriguing mix of shops, bars and restaurants.  For the young and hip interested in living close to the action, the newest luxury apartments, and the first to incorporate green energy and green building techniques, can be found at 172-176 River Street.

The River Street Lofts was designed with the young, Gen Y or millennial, professional in mind:  “They are looking for housing that features the latest amenities and convenience.  They will expect high-speed internet, air conditioning, laundry in-unit, while wanting to have bars, cafes and other social outlets within walking distance,” said Thomas Rossi, one of the principals of Redburn Development Companies LLC, the developer of the Lofts.

The lofts are modern and spacious with high-end amenities like granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, yet retain the character of the old building with the original hardwood floors and street facing, arched windows.  The urban, eclectic style echoes the feel of popular, luxury lofts in Brooklyn, Hoboken and lower Manhattan.  Rossi and his development partner, John Blackburn, chose a location mere steps from popular bars and restaurants.  Residents will also be able to enjoy a few excellent venues right in the building: a cafe and lounge will be opening shortly.   They will be announced in an upcoming ribbon cutting event.

The choice to refurbish one of Troy’s historical buildings, rather than build new, speaks to Rossi and Blackburn’s commitment to reduce waste and create an environmentally friendly living community.  The partners engineered a proprietary energy management system involving rooftop solar panels that will provide 40% of the required power.  A focus on using high-efficiency appliances, lighting and heating/cooling systems was important to everyone involved.

“We’re taking a long-term view,” says Rossi.  “I know that John and I share this, but I also think a lot of our generation really does care about the environment and sustainability.  Even if it does cost just a little more money, a little more time, to do something that is going to make a real difference, it’s kind of silly not to.”

According to Sunrise Management & Consulting, The River Street Loft’s management company, the apartments are renting quickly with only a few of the 21 to rent still available.
