Looking forward to Halloween with Your Dog?
Helpful Tips from Becky Hutchins and Van Allen Apartments

Here are some ideas that might help your dog be a little more safe and happy on Halloween:
- If your dog gets nervous around people, make sure they have their own space. They might like a room with nice calming music while treats are being handed out!
- Keep ID on your dog in case they slip out that door that will be opening and closing for Trick-or-Treaters.
- Watch the candy! Dogs don’t need to indulge in our treats too.
- For our young dogs and chewers, watch what they are putting in their mouths. Pumpkins are for decoration, not dessert!

Becky has been professionally training dogs and people for more than a decade. She teaches classes at her training facility, Good Choice Dog Training, in Albany, NY. Becky is a certified knowledge-assessed professional dog trainer through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and is an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. She is also a member of the Association for Professional Dog Trainers.
Becky volunteers her time as a dog trainer with the Albany Damien Center’s PAWS program, helping clients with HIV/AIDS manage and care for their dogs, and also works with shelter dogs at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands, NY. She also holds special classes for foster dogs in rescue from local rescue organizations
