Adds Chief Strategy Officer Position
Latham, NY (May 13, 2021) – Heather Schechter was promoted to Chief Strategy Officer from Director of Marketing and Business Development for Sunrise Management & Consulting and its affiliated companies. Her responsibilities include developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining corporate strategic initiatives for Sunrise Management & Consulting, a multifamily property management and development company; New Abode, LLC, a licensed real estate brokerage; and the newly launched Sunrise Solars Coworking. This role enhances the companies’ future focus, which sets up Sunrise businesses for innovation and growth.
Sunrise Owner and President Jesse Holland decided it was important to add a position to assess and align corporate efforts with strategy while Sunrise is building new businesses with a shared corporate infrastructure. “Since founding Sunrise Management & Consulting in 1998, we have expanded into real estate development, launched a brokerage, and now have our first coworking space. Our executive team has been primarily focused on operations. In today’s fast-changing world, staying focused on developing and executing the strategic vision is essential. I felt it was imperative to have someone dedicated to keeping our businesses expansion plans centered around strategy.”
Previously, Heather’s primary focus had been on public relations, marketing, and new customer outreach for Sunrise Management & Consulting, a property management company focused on building great communities for residents. In explaining the promotion to Chief Strategy Officer, Holland said, “working with Heather over the past five years, I have valued how her attention to detail, strategic mindset, and project leadership ability has helped grow our businesses. She has led us to think deeper about issues and approach business decisions with a long-term focus.”
Adds Holland, “Heather’s promotion comes a year into the pandemic when our businesses have had to pivot operations continuously, but the pause in some activities gave our leadership team time to reflect on our needs. It has been more important than ever to focus on the range of ways our customers and employees have experienced and continue to experience the pandemic and how that impacts operations. Being in the housing and now the coworking market during the COVID pandemic has allowed Sunrise to witness our customers’ changing relationship with their use of space for work and home. As people venture back out of their homes to work, what will their new routine look like, and how can we help our customers through this transition? We have exciting plans for new businesses and investments but need to make sure we are continuously aligning our strategy with the changing reality. From starting with us as Director of Marketing in 2016, Heather’s role has expanded, and we are putting her capabilities to fuller use.”
Heather has recently been instrumental in refining and documenting Sunrise’s unique processes, working on talent acquisition, and organizing procedures into a robust learning management system. She has also been working on the growth of New Abode and Sunrise Solars Coworking.

Heather has expanded her strategic focus with accreditations in Public Relations and Human Resources. In 2019, she earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), designed to recognize public relations professionals who demonstrate their commitment to the profession, its ethical practice, and who are selected based on broad knowledge, strategic perspective, and sound professional judgment. In 2021, she earned her Senior Certified Professional Certification from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-SCP). This rigorous examination assessed Heather’s Human Resources expertise in four HR knowledge domains: people, organization, workplace, and strategy.
Heather holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History earned at Columbia College in New York City and a Master’s Degree in Education from Sage Graduate School in Troy, NY.
